Getting Organized on Social Media

One of the toughest tasks a small business owner faces is getting organized and then staying organized!

I struggle with this myself which is why it is a passion for me! Organization is key to running a successful business, from marketing, to paying bills, collecting payments from customers and planning out future goals. It is also the key to a successful home life (more on that in a future post).

It can be overwhelming to say the least but if you approach organization for each part of your business one at a time, the chaos will quickly start to melt away and that’s a good thing!

Today I wanted to focus on online marketing.

Social media can be overwhelming…

with multiple platforms and the need to post at various times of day, respond to questions on Twitter, comment and interact with Instagram followers etc. Not to mention the HUGE TIME SUCK it can be if you start checking out other people’s content!

So my #1 tool for social media organization is a calendar!

I know, right – not exactly rocket science, but it works!

No matter your industry, create a calendar for the entire month to organize the content you plan to share, and if possible have a theme for the each month. This way your graphics, your text series and tweets, your blog posts, and your calls to action so all of your posts will be streamlined.
Here is an example of my calendar:

In order to be successful in building your marketing calendar, you must establish a few rules, like those I have listed below. This will make it much easier to fill in the calendar and get yourself started on the right track!
Weekly Rules:
5 IG posts
30 Facebook posts
100 Tweets
At least 1 LIVE video on FB, IG or Snap
Participate in 1 Tweet Chat
Set aside time to create the themed graphics
Set aside time for responding to comments
Set aside time for pinning quality blog content… not shoes you love! 😉
Once you establish your rules, it is as simple as scheduling out your tasks each week on your marketing calendar! So if you didn’t already click one of the above calendar links, click here now to get your free copy of my social media calendar!
