We all have trouble with productivity once in awhile, right? If you find yourself having trouble getting through your daily “to-do” list, it very well could be due to time spent on Social Media. I could blame Facebook for the mindless scrolling, but in reality Instagram, Snapchat, and Pinterest are equally as habit-forming! Oh, Pinterest… how do I love me some Pinterest! I could honestly spend hours scrolling the beautiful boards people have created!!
If this sounds like you, and you want to increase your productivity, check out my top 3 tips below:
1) Only work in one browser at a time.
That’s right, you need to close all those windows/tabs that you have at the top of your screen because they Flash every time you get a new notification. Talk about distracting! And I know this can be hard, as I struggle with this as well, especially when I need to finish something I’ve not started yet and go on to something else. The problem lies when you have six windows of unfinished projects open! Stop multitasking and start focusing on one thing at a time… start to finish! I can’t tell you how this one tip has made such a tremendous impact on my productivity and my business!
2) Use airplane mode often.
I know it may sound odd, because why on earth would you use airplane mode when you’re not an airplane? Well, for the simple fact that it eliminates all distractions from whatever you’re doing. This is not great if you’re working in word press or something for your site or blog or something else where Internet is required. However it is so tempting to glance at your phone or check email just because outlook flashed at the bottom of your screen or you heard a ding. So whether you’re writing the content, reading or studying something for your job, or even personally, or any task that requires your full concentration, put your phone in airplane mode and then put your computer in airplane mode if you don’t need access to the web to complete whatever you’re doing. Give it a shot, and I’m sure you’ll never go back! It is so nice to be able to work free of distractions, incoming calls, text messages, Facebook notifications, snaps … You get the idea?
3) Scheduling social media posts.
You may have already read my post on using a Calendar for planning out your social media marketing content, if you haven’t click here. So following up the idea of using a Calendar to plan your social media marketing, you should take that from the calendar and right to your scheduler. Not using a scheduler yet? Stay tuned for a future post comparing my top three favorite schedulers. Scheduling content will not only save you a ton of time posting, it will give your message a more coherent and clear voice. Not to mention, as we discussed at the beginning of this post, it will save you time from the social media time suck, that is when you end up mindlessly scrolling through other people’s stuff! Stop worrying about everyone else, and start taking massive action in YOUR business!
